Konkurrenz...

"We are here because we are fathers and we want to teach our children what is best.  Who is better to decide what to teach a child than his father?  The Bible tells us we are to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the lord, so this is what we try to do.  We teach them to love Gott and neighbor, to work hard, to care for the land, to provide for their family, to cooperate with their neighbors and to help widows and orphans.  A little schooling is gut, but your consolidated school is full of the world, they learn other ways.  They learn..."  "Konkurrenz..." "Competition".  "They learn competition".  "Not working together, but against one another.  They learn to be selfish.  So then it seams to me we are bringing them up in the nurture of the world.  We fear for our children.  We fear for their minds and hearts because we don't know what they will be taught in your schools".  "So much time in your school, makes them greedy and lazy, and fills their heads with foolishness."

Anyone want to guess what type of book this is from and or the time frame?..... Crickets chirping.

Kindergarten registration is in a few weeks.  Not really sure how I feel about it.  She needs more than I can give but how much more?  7 1/2 hours a day more....I think not.

Would love to discuss this but chances are I will only hear from the crickets....chirp, chirp, chirp...

  1. She surely needs you, but the love and education of another "teacher" is a blessing. There are still some "Mrs. Mary Ann's" out there who love our children and are able to gift them with an experience that will never be forgotten! Some of the best lessons I have learned as a parent are from some of the best teachers ever. They see our babies as we never really do.

  2. John, I absolutely agree with you. My worry stems from the idea of full day Kindergarten. Our daughter will go from 3 hours a day, 3 times a week to 7 hours away from home 5 days a week. Kids are resilient and my hope is that she will just love her teacher and "school". I realize it will be an adjustment for all of us and hope that it will be more smooth than our transition to pre-k.

  3. Another thing that bothers me about sending my kid to school is that sooner or later some teacher whether meaning to or not is going to squash my daughter's energy and creativity. Confuse her about using her voice and potentially kill her spirit. I try not to exaggerate and I truly feel that this can and will happen. Probably not in Kindergarten because the class sizes are relatively low and creativity, opinions, and ideas will be encouraged. But Hello first grade, class size will rise upwards of 28-32 kids in a class. Because you see this is how the public schools roll...smash as many kids in a room as possible so as not to have to pay another teacher. Said teacher gets overwhelmed and all kids are told to sit down and be quiet. Not saying that there are not times for sitting and being quiet but it would take one heck of a teacher to wrangle the energy, creativity, and ideas of 32 first graders. So sit down and be quiet. We hope he or she is so kind.
